Renamed in honor of Lazare Carnot, hero of the French Revolution and expert in defenses, it quickly became a strategic and symbolic place.The square has also witnessed darker times, notably during the Second World War, when it saw troops pass through and heard the rumors of the time. But always resilient, Place Carnot has risen and reinvented itself, like an urban phoenix.
